My Strange Addiction on TLC

There are not many shows that shock me on TV.    However, My Strange Addiction on TLC is crazy and shocking. 

Tonight's episode shows two ladies who have very odd addictions.  The first lady is addicted to her blow dryer.  She has slept with her blow dryer turned on for 24 years, she cuddles with the blow dryer, and she has it on when she is sitting on the couch reading.  She has had multiple severe burns from the blow dryer and continues with the addiction.  Her 3 year old daughter has developed the same addiction.

The second lady is addicted to eating toilet paper.  Yes you read that right, she eats toilet paper.  She has been eating it since the sixth grade, everyday.  She fails to see the potential medical problems associated with this, such as bowel obstruction or her intestines exploding.  They show her having breakfast with her niece and she is eating toilet paper instead of breakfast.  She goes to the movies to eat toilet paper without people seeing her.  She carries it with her everywhere and carries a roll in her car.

Both ladies seek the help of psychologist who specialize in addictions. 

The blow dryer lady really seems to want to stop the addiction.  The therapist wants her to learn breathing techniques with meditation.  Also, she has to write her blow dryer addiction a letter telling the addiction what benefits it has given her and what problems it has caused.  By the end of the show therapy helps her stop sleeping with the blow dryer. 

The toilet paper eating lady continues with a level of denial but by the end of the show, with therapy, she does cut down the toilet paper eating from daily to twice a week.

Later in the season this show will also highlight a lady who is addicted to bodybuilding, thumb-sucking, eating laundry detergent and a few other strange addictions.

It is on Wednesday nights at 9 and 9:30PM.
